Dubai Opens Its Most Ambitious Luxury Resort Yet

Dubai has unveiled its most ambitious luxury hospitality development to date with the opening of a 280-room ultra-luxury resort on Palm Jebel Ali, the emirate's second palm island, which has been under development for over a decade.
The property, operated by a major international luxury brand that has not permitted full naming ahead of its official launch ceremony next week, represents an investment of approximately AED 3.2 billion ($870 million USD) and sets a new benchmark for resort development in the Gulf region.
The resort features 68 private pool villas, a 4,200-square-metre spa anchored by a longevity medicine programme, six restaurants including a flagship helmed by a three-Michelin-starred chef, and an underwater observation lounge accessible via a private submarine docking facility, the first such installation at any hotel property in the world.
Design has been entrusted to three internationally acclaimed studios working in collaboration: a Rotterdam-based architecture practice for the master plan, a Japanese interiors firm for the guest room environment, and a London-based landscape architecture company for the resort's extensive gardens and water features.
Dubai's hospitality market continues to perform at levels that would have seemed extraordinary five years ago. The emirate registered record international tourist arrivals in 2025, with 18.7 million visitors, and has positioned itself as the primary hub for ultra-high-net-worth travellers in the region and increasingly in the global market.
The Palm Jebel Ali resort is the flagship of a wider cluster of properties being developed across the island, with three further luxury properties expected to open by 2028 in what Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism is positioning as the emirate's most significant new tourism destination.
